🔒 TL;DR: We Don't Collect Any Data
ScreenFlow is designed with privacy as a core principle. All recordings, screenshots, and annotations are
processed entirely on your device. Nothing is ever sent to any server.
1. Information We Collect
We do not collect, store, or transmit any personal information or user data.
ScreenFlow operates 100% locally on your device. Specifically:
- ✓ We do NOT collect personal information
- ✓ We do NOT collect usage analytics
- ✓ We do NOT track your browsing history
- ✓ We do NOT access your recordings or screenshots
- ✓ We do NOT use cookies or tracking pixels
- ✓ We do NOT require an account or login
2. How the Extension Works
ScreenFlow uses the following browser APIs to provide its functionality:
- Screen Capture API: To record your screen, window, or tab when you explicitly request
it
- Tab Capture API: To capture screenshots of the visible area
- Storage API: To temporarily store screenshot data between the capture and editor pages
(stored locally only)
- Downloads API: To save your recordings and screenshots to your computer
All processing happens locally in your browser. No data leaves your device.
3. Data Storage
ScreenFlow uses Chrome's local storage API only for:
- Temporarily passing screenshot data from the capture to the editor (deleted after editing)
- No persistent data is stored
- No cloud storage is used
4. Third-Party Services
ScreenFlow does not integrate with any third-party services. We do not:
- Send data to analytics services
- Use advertising networks
- Share data with any third parties
- Connect to external servers
5. Permissions Explained
The extension requests the following permissions:
- activeTab: Required to capture screenshots of the current tab
- downloads: Required to save files to your computer
- storage: Required to temporarily hold screenshot data locally
- scripting: Required for full-page scroll capture feature
- tabs: Required to open recorder/editor in new tabs
- Host permissions: Required for full-page capture to work on any website
